Mirror, Mirror on the Shelf

“Mirror, Mirror on the Shelf. Your Words of grace are all that is left! When I search and can’t find myself, I look to you – Mirror, Mirror on the Shelf!

Mirror, Mirror on the Shelf! As I blow the dust from off your pages and bow my head to escape sin’s wages, I see the reflection of men for many ages. Then, a tender tear drop falls and dampens your page as I shamefully engage –

Mirror, Mirror on the Shelf, I need protection from myself” (Yvonne James).

Our reflections in the mirror amazingly tell us a lot about ourselves. Daily, we spend countless hours in front of them grooming and preparing ourselves – making ourselves presentable to the world.  Our face, our teeth, our hair, our clothing, our general overall appearance – so much hanging on that one moment. We cover up any visible flaws with cosmetics, flatter our physique with body shapers, and other enhancers – making sure we are ready to meet this new day and its challenges head-on.  We have to admit, looking good on the outside is a tremendous boost to a person’s self-esteem and confidence – “I am ready! Or, am I!” Related image

But, how does the mirror accomplish or manufacture this imagery?  Simply put, there is no trickery or no manufacturing involved – whatever you are, that is what you will visually perceive with your eyes. You see, IT IS THE LIGHT! Is not that the most profound thing you have ever heard – IT IS THE LIGHT! Once light appears, it reflects onto any shiny surface and you can then see yourself on that surface.  Turn the light off or dispell it, and the reflection is no longer visible, or barely visible because you are in darkness. You are still there, properly positioned, standing in the right place – but you cannot see yourself.

Does this not remind you of God’s Word: The Mirror! For if any be a hearer of God’s Word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror! For he beholds  (sees, views, and inspects) himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what manner of man he saw in the mirror” (James 1:23-24). God’s Word is that mirror, that shiny surface that our imagery is reflected onto – showing us our flaws, and imperfections, and then, works to fashion us, through Christ, into a new creator.Related image

The Word of God is the mirror we look deeply into daily – full of salvation and redemption, insight and knowledge, and metaphoric teachings. The Word penetrates, discerns, and reveals our thoughts and the intents of our heart.  It is the gateway into eternity, and in it, we find the pathway to everlasting life.

Does this not remind you of Jesus: The Light! The Word that became flesh and lived among men? Then Jesus said unto them again, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12).  Jesus’ appearance and presence in our lives, brings us an amazing spiritual awareness and a new way of viewing life – seeing clearly things that were once hidden from us because of the darkness that engulfed us. Being born again, born of the water and Spirit, our understanding is enlightened, we don’t think the way we use to anymore. JESUS IS THE LIGHT! And, guess what, His presence is our lives, makes us lights as well!Related image

As we look into the perfect law of liberty, seek God’s face, and spend time in His Word – meditating on it day and night, our lives are transformed more into the image of Christ. We begin to reflect that which is being fed into our spirits. Following Christ, we become one with our creator – having the mind of Christ. Growing gracefully! “How sweet is your Word unto my taste! It is sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your doctrines I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Your Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”Related image

Seek God with your whole heart, keep reading and studying the Word – it will transform you. If you were broken, and pieces of your life are falling apart – God can put your life back together again. Chose this day to walk in the light! Reading and studying God’s Word is like going under the knife DAILY! It is like electing to have open heart surgery every day of your life. It can be painful, but it is definitely worth it!

“I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

The Word is the Mirror! Jesus is the Light! You are the Reflection! WHAT WILL MEN SEE! #iWANTU2C CHRIST IN ME!

“Wherefore laying aside all desires to do evil, and all deviousness, and dishonesty, and jealousy and covetousness, and all evil speakings – as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow in Christ. That is if you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

Don’t feed your flesh every day, three meals a day and starve your spirit man! Remember what Jesus said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” In order to turn the Word of God on the devil when he comes to tempt you and try your faith – you have to have some Word in you first! You have to have something to fight with. The Word of God is part of your spiritual armor – IT IS THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT! Sharp and Powerful!
