For some people, blindness is as natural to them as our sight is to us. They live as normal and productive lives as anyone. Their blindness does not stop them from loving and being loved. They work, eat, sleep, laugh, play – asking a person who is born blind, “How does it feel to be blind,” is like asking me, “How does it feel to be black?” My answer may be similar to their’s, “Feels just like you, human.”
But, what if you were stumbling in the darkness of night and did not have to? Your blindness is the result of your unwillingness to change, sitting in a dark room holding the light switch in your hand but refusing to flip the switch. What if you are behind bars of steel, lingering in a prison and locked away in a world of darkness that you created for yourself – and do not have to be. Blindfolded by your own HATRED! Refusing to let go of past hurts, refusing to forgive others, refusing to forgive yourself.
Harboring ill will and resentment, breeding prejudice, hostility, and animosity inside of you is restrictive and confining – harming you more than the person it targets. It is like a toxic fume that feels a room, cutting off your oxygen supply – choking the very life out of you. If you say that you are a child of God, and have hatred in your heart for your brothers or sisters, you are not in the light – you are in darkness.
If you are a HATER, you are a MURDERER! The creator of your own punishment! SATAN IS DECEIVING YOU!
“If a person says that he is in the light, and hates his brother or sister, he is in darkness. The individual that loves his brother or sister lives in the light, and there is no trigger or motive for faltering in him. Contrarywise, the person that hates is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going because that darkness has blinded his eyes.”
Hatred is a sickness, a disease that slowly eats away and erodes the fabric of humanity. All humans are created equally, God has no respect of persons, in Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, bond nor free, male nor female! We are all one in Him – heirs together of the promise. So, why do we hate? WE HATE SIN, NOT MEN! “Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him” (1 Jn. 3:15).
Do not fight against the Word of God! “God resists the proud but gives grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” It is not a sin to be tempted, Jesus was tempted, but we have to fight against the works of the flesh! Hatred is an emotional and spiritual disaster – it is a destructive force that destroys everything in its path. It will stop at nothing to wreak havoc.
Let us be honest with ourselves – shall we? How can we say, “I Love God! How can we worship and adore God,” whom we have never seen – and hate our brothers and sisters we see every day. It is impossible. “If a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And we have this commandment from Him, That he who loves God love his brother also.”
Pray that the Father help you to walk in love because this is the fulfillment of the law! We cannot get around it – as painful as it might be at times, we must love everyone! “Let love be without pretense and fakeness, despise that which is evil, and become attached and fastened to that which is good!”
