Saul, Saul, Saul – DON’T BE A SAUL! Saul admired David, but what Saul did not realize was that David had greatness in him! Saul was okay with David has long as David was in his place – beneath him! But once David begins to rise in popularity, Saul becomes jealous and seeks to kill him. David served Saul faithfully until he just could not anymore because of the jealousy in Saul’s heart. In Saul’s eyes, David was good enough to be a servant, but not good enough to be a king!
“Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.”
But, in the end, righteousness prevailed and Saul, well, he got the recompense of his reward. Just because a person is serving under you, does not mean they are beneath you – DO NOT BE A SAUL! Promotion comes from the Lord!
When you see the light of God’s Glory shining in someone else, elevating and promoting someone else – celebrate that light, don’t try to dampen it, snuff it out, block it, over shadow it or out shine it!
